Family History
 brown brothers cattle company was established in the spring of 1998. Terry Brown discussed the reestablishment of a Texas Longhorn herd during several of the preceding years with his uncle Frank Doherty, the patriarch of the famous Doherty Longhorn Ranch of Ft. Scott, Kansas. It is with Frank Doherty's encouragement and blessing that brown brothers was established and with his death it marked a tough passing of the mantle for the young herd and his nephews. Mr. Joe Valentine and his expert partner friend and wife, Lorinda Valentine, have offered their expertise to Terry and Gary Brown as the herd was established. brown brothers cattle company is forever grateful to Panther Creek Ranch as an invaluable reservoir of Doherty genetics and their expertise on the development of those bloodlines.

The company is a family owned and operated business jointly shared by the families of Terry and Gary Brown. Terry and Gary are the ancestors of long ago Irish immigrants that settled in the great plains 200 plus years ago. They and their families share a love for the traditional west and its historic culture, hard work, straightforward honesty and integrity.

The herd is a testament to the great cattle developed by Frank Doherty and its long lasting influence on history and ongoing genetic development of the Texas Longhorn breed of cattle. brown brothers cattle company consists of 150 to 200 head of registered cattle and is managed and run by Terry and Jean Brown. Gary, along with his sons Adam and Alex, reside in Katy, Texas and are invaluable hands during spring and fall roundups at 3 horsesRANCH.
